BACHELOR OF ARTS IN LIBERAL STUDIES
WITH A PRELIMINARY MULTIPLE SUBJECT TEACHING CREDENTIAL
(FAST TRACK)
The Liberal Studies major aims to provide a rich
educational experience through coursework in a broad range of academic
disciplines. The broad-based, interdisciplinary nature of Liberal Studies
provides a knowledge base and communication and analytical skills appropriate
to many careers and occupations.
The Liberal Studies Fast Track program is designed to provide an accelerated
pathway for future elementary (K-8) teachers. It combines, with minor
changes, two programs: the Liberal Studies major (credential track) and
the Multiple Subject Credential program.
SCHEDULING
The Liberal Studies Fast Track program is a seven quarter year round program
requiring full time work of 16 to 18 units per quarter. Courses are scheduled
as a day cohort, Monday through Friday, and students progress as a team
along the curriculum.
APPLICATION
The Concord Campus operates on the quarter system with four quarters
a year. Fast Track cohorts begin each Fall quarter. Applications are accepted
during the year and will be evaluated based on academic record, field
experience in elementary school classroom and commitment to an accelerated
cohort degree program.
This program requires a supplemental application
(Click for cover letter and application).
COMPUTER LAB
The Computer Labs are equipped with over 100 Windows and Macintosh platform
computers. Access to all instructional servers, the Internet, and email
is provided.
